Ranks, XP & Achievements
Ranks, XP & Achievements
Section titled “Ranks, XP & Achievements”Sencai rewards the work you actually do on the platform — provisioning infrastructure, running runbooks, resolving incidents — with experience points (XP), a visible rank, and unlockable badges. This is not a login-streak engagement gimmick: XP is earned for operational value, not for showing up.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”- Header widget — your current rank badge and XP progress bar are always visible in the top navigation bar, next to notifications.
- Achievements tab — open My Account → Achievements (on your profile page) for the full picture: rank, total XP, progress to the next rank, current/longest streak, your earned badges, and a link to your organization’s leaderboard (if enabled).
- Automation score widget — on your organization’s main dashboard, a separate widget shows how much of your team’s activity is automated vs. manual (see Automation score below).
How you earn XP
Section titled “How you earn XP”XP is granted automatically when the platform records specific, real actions. The exact amounts may be retuned over time, but the actions that count are:
| Action | What it recognizes |
|---|---|
| Provisioning completed | You (or an automation) successfully provisioned a cloud resource |
| Runbook executed successfully | A Fleet runbook ran to completion without failure |
| Incident resolved | An operational incident was closed out |
| Daily login streak | A small bonus for consecutive daily logins — intentionally minor, not the main mechanic |
| Rare easter eggs | See below |
Badge unlocks themselves can also carry an XP reward, defined per badge (see Badges).
Your total XP maps to one of six ranks:
| Rank | Minimum XP |
|---|---|
| Bronze | 0 |
| Silver | 500 |
| Gold | 2,000 |
| Platinum | 5,000 |
| Diamond | 12,000 |
| Sencai Master | 25,000 |
Every account starts at Bronze with 0 XP. Crossing a threshold triggers a celebratory notification the next time your rank is checked (typically your next page load or navigation).
Your rank is portable across organizations
Section titled “Your rank is portable across organizations”Rank, XP, and badges belong to you as a user — not to any single organization. If you belong to multiple organizations, or switch from one to another, your rank travels with you unchanged: it is never reset, duplicated, or split per organization. Only the team leaderboard and automation score are organization-scoped — your personal rank is not.
Badges
Section titled “Badges”Badges are a fixed catalog of achievements, each tied to a trigger condition — for example reaching a certain number of successful provisions, hitting a runbook-success milestone, resolving a set number of incidents, maintaining a login streak, or crossing an automation-score threshold. Some badges may also be granted manually by a Sencai administrator for special recognition.
Your earned badges appear as a grid on the Achievements tab, each showing its icon and the date it was unlocked. The full badge catalog (including badges you haven’t earned yet) is curated by the Sencai team and may grow over time.
Streaks
Section titled “Streaks”Your Achievements tab shows a current daily-login streak and your longest streak ever recorded. Streaks are a minor supporting mechanic — day-to-day operational work, not login frequency, is what drives most of your XP.
Rare easter eggs
Section titled “Rare easter eggs”Occasionally — roughly a dozen times a year across the whole platform, not per user — a qualifying action has a small chance of triggering a rare, celebratory easter egg: a full-screen overlay with a fun message, distinct from your regular notifications. Each account can receive at most a handful of these per year, so they stay a genuine surprise rather than something to farm. Dismissing the overlay marks it as seen; it won’t reappear if you refresh the page.
Achievement notifications
Section titled “Achievement notifications”Badge unlocks and rank-ups surface as a distinct gold-accented toast notification (visually different from ordinary success/info/warning/error toasts), separate from the rare easter-egg overlay described above.
Team leaderboard
Section titled “Team leaderboard”Each organization can optionally turn on an opt-in leaderboard ranking its members by total XP. It is off by default — comparing individual employees’ XP is sensitive, so it is never enabled automatically.
- Turning it on: an organization Owner or Admin enables it from the organization’s settings.
- Viewing it: once enabled, any member can see it at Leaderboard in the navigation, showing the top members by XP within that organization only — never across organizations.
- Opting yourself out: even if your organization enables the leaderboard, you can personally opt out from the Leaderboard page (or your Achievements tab) — your total XP is still yours, it simply won’t be listed even if you’d top the ranking.
If you leave an organization, you disappear from that organization’s leaderboard (since it only reflects current members) but your XP keeps accumulating on your personal rank wherever you go next.
Automation score (team-level)
Section titled “Automation score (team-level)”Separate from personal rank, each organization’s dashboard shows an automation score: the percentage of the team’s recent operational activity (provisioning, runbook execution, incident handling) that was automated rather than done manually, over a rolling 30-day window, together with a trend indicator versus the prior period. This reflects Sencai’s core goal — using the platform to save real operational time, not just log more activity — and is visible to any member of the organization, not just admins.
If there isn’t enough recent activity to compute a meaningful score, the widget shows a clear “not enough activity yet” state rather than a misleading 0%.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Q: I don’t see a rank badge in the header at all.
A: New accounts start at Bronze with 0 XP — the badge should still be visible, just at the lowest tier. If it’s missing entirely, try refreshing; if it persists, contact support.
Q: I switched organizations and my rank reset.
A: Rank should never reset on an organization switch — it’s tied to your user account, not any single organization. If you see a reset, this is a bug — please report it with your account details.
Q: The Leaderboard link isn’t visible for my organization.
A: The leaderboard is opt-in and off by default. Ask an organization Owner or Admin to enable it in organization settings.
Q: Can I turn off achievement notifications?
A: There is currently no dedicated toggle for achievement toasts specifically; they follow the same notification surface as the rest of the platform.
